📏 Take the measurements
🌞 At the workshop, all accessories are custom-made. Therefore, it is very important to know how to take accurate measurements of your dog.
But how do you do it? We'll explain!
💛 Necklaces: the neck warmer
Take a tape measure and measure the circumference of your dog's neck where the collar naturally sits . Do not add any extra length ; it is important that the tape measure lies flat against the skin.
For harnesses , you can take the measurement a little lower , as the neck of the harness will be closer to the shoulder line.
🌻 Harnesses
- Neck circumference : it is measured around the dog's neck, where the harness will rest (usually a few centimeters below the collar).
- Chest circumference : this is the circumference of the rib cage. It passes 2 or 3 finger-widths from the elbow.
- Back length : the measurement from the point where the chest passes over the back to the neck. This is not the total length of the dog's back!
- Belly length : measured from the point where the thorax passes (under the belly) to the point of the neck (tip of the sternum). This is not the total length of the dog's belly!
🧼 Maintenance
Paracord
🧼 Paracord can be cleaned with soap and water .
For a deeper clean, you can put some baking soda on the collar, along with a little vinegar . Leave it for 3-5 minutes and then gently rub to remove the grime.
It is strongly advised against machine washing paracord due to the risk of color bleeding. If you wish to do so, it is essential to wash it in cold water and in a mesh laundry bag designed for this purpose.
BioThane®
✨ Biothane is super easy to maintain!
It is rinsed under clean water , with soap to thoroughly remove the dirt.
You can rub the areas without flocking.
The flocking
🧼 Regarding accessories with flocking, these require special care.
The flocked areas should avoid coming into contact with too much sand or soil . Repeated contact can damage them and compromise the adhesion of the flocking.
When cleaning, be careful not to rub too hard . It's better to be gentle and careful, using a soft cloth for example.
The buckles
✨ To ensure a long and smooth life for your accessories, it is imperative to properly maintain the buckles!
Stainless steel and brass are rust-resistant. However, they should be protected from strong scratches and seawater.
Before heading to the beach, you will need to rinse your accessories with clean water and make sure they dry properly.
To maintain the hardware, it is recommended to use products specifically designed for steel or brass. See our cleaning kits for more information!
